Yachts and Cruisers worth up to $100 million have been forced to take refuge in makeshift marinas up a creek in Port Douglas to protect them from cyclone Yasi.
Yachts and commercial fleet boats moved into Dickson's Inlet about four kilometres upstream.
One boat owner Mr Ryan said; "I'm currently up a creek without a paddle,".
"We go up into the mangroves, anchor off and tie up."
There are 150 boats up in the mangroves, Mr Ryan said.
"All types and shapes ... the dearest is worth 13 million," he said.
"There would be up to $100 million worth.
"We have the best cyclone anchorages in Queensland, here in Port Douglas."
Port Douglas were prepared to batten down the hatches and people were said to be nervous but in good spirits.
