Police targeting drunk boaties over holiday period.
The Water Police will increase patrols on the Murray River and sourrounding coastal waters over the Christmas break to crack down on the increasing number of boat drivers drinking while in charge of a vessel.
Police spokesman Senior Constable Tim Dodds reminded boat owners they will also be checking boats for the correct safety gear.
``Boat operators, including jet skis, ski boat observers, water skiers and house boat operators are reminded that drink driving laws also apply on the water,'' Snr Sgt Dodds said.
``The .05 alcohol level will be strictly enforced.''
Water Police also reinforced that anyone operating a motorised vessel must be licensed.
