Some areas of Moreton Bay will be off limits to fisherman due a massive plume of mud and debris.
The no go zone will be enforced until scientists can be sure the plume of mud washed down from the Brisbane River is not polluting fish and seafood stocks.
Recreational fishers have been urged not to fish in the affected areas of Moreton Bay and to avoid using leisure boats in the area due to safety and health risks.
Commercial fishermen and Aquaculture farms have agreed to close down operations in the area until they get the all-clear from the Government.
The warning to fishos came from Sunfish Australia, following advice from Queensland Health that the bay's waters could be contaminated by pesticides and sewage.
The plume is expected to dissipate over a few weeks and the local marine species will return to the area
State Government scientists carried out water tests in Moreton Bay on Wednesday and Thursday, the results will not be known for at least one week.
