New Paintless Antifoul System - 2B Sure
The 2B Sure electrical antifouling system is set to revolutionise hull protection around the world.
The system works by preventing underwater growth on any boat and without any need to use paint, the product is being lunched here in Australia by Global Marine Group.
The ingenius system does not come into contact with the hull. Designed to be quickly set-up with only one simple connection needed, which is a power supply. The power source can be configured for either a 240V or 12V supply. The power draw is minimal and a small battery powered by a small solar panel is all that is required when using the 12V system.
The complete set-up consists of a single control unit, two copper electrodes, three power cables and requires two lengths of rope to suspend the electrodes into the water.
Here’s How It Works!
The two electrodes are suspended just below the waterline, one from the bow and one from the stern. They are connected to a central control unit which, once activated, feeds an electrical current into the anodes causing the release of copper ions into the water. These ions disperse evenly forming a cloud with a radius of up to 20 metres in sea water.
The movement of the ions along the electrical field within the water prevents fouling - the growth of barnacles, mussels and other forms of unwanted organic matter that can seriously affect boat speed, performance and fuel consumption
The 2B Sure system works independently of the hull to be protected.
This means it works well on any hull material and has no effect on zinc anodes.
Maintenance of the system consists of the periodic replacement of the copper electrodes. The lifespan of these is determined by the environment and the frequency of their use. Generally, replacement is not required for several years.
The environmentally-friendly 2B Sure, protects both the hull and stern gear and leads to improved performance and reduced fuel costs.
A single 2B Sure antifouling system is sufficient for boats of up to 20 metres long. For bigger craft, two or more systems can be used together.
